Tips on How to Motivate Your Employees Part 2
Secrets to HappinessAs far as the workplace is concerned, the secrets to happiness involve recognition and appreciation. Ironically, these two things are more often than not ignored by some companies who carry the belief that money is the sole reason for living of all employees. Remember, employees each have different personalities, and while their individual needs vary, the laws of the universe show happiness as a strong moving force. If you work to recognize and appreciate your employees' efforts, they are likely to respond positively and give you more reasons to be proud of them. One of the basic things you can do is to make a pleasure call. Call an employee who has performed well and thank him personally, without adding any other topic into the conversation. Instead of or aside from a call, you can also write a note that says what you liked about the employee's performance and why. While general praise is acceptable, singling out an employee has long been accepted as a more effective means of motivating employees. It makes that particular employee feel pleased with himself and therefore more inclined to do even better next time, and it makes the other employees feel challenged to show the same commendable performance. It is also recommended to provide physical bits of evidence of your employees' good work, such as a bulletin board where photos, memos, and other proofs of progress on a project can be displayed. Encourage members of the management staff and all employees to post positive comments about others who they see are making an improvement at work. Allow separate teams or departments to have their own signals of success, such as clanging of pens or blowing of a whistle; this is great for fostering camaraderie within the same groups and setting a friendly competitive spirit among teams or departments. With these simple tips on how to motivate employee, you can make your employees happy and satisfied, turning them into more productive assets of your business.
